Songs, videos, stills & more!: All you want to know about episode 5, “The First Time”

November 6, 2011

I don’t know about you gleeks, but I thought that last week’s episode, “Pot O’ Gold”, was a bit underwhelming. There were a few great songs and some good moments, but it wasn’t quite what I was hoping for after that mini-hiatus. But, from what I’ve heard, we won’t be nearly as disappointed by this week’s episode, “The First Time”. Spoilerphobes, it’s preview post time, so avert your eyes if you don’t want to see the official synopsis, episode stills, full songs and a bunch of sneak peek videos from this week’s episode. First, here’s the synopsis:

As the kids prepare for opening night of the school musical, several of them contemplate taking the next step with their significant others; meanwhile, Coach Beiste takes a big chance in her personal life; and Finn has high hopes when a college football coach scouts the school’s team.

“Art, music, theater, dance – these are things we can’t afford to lose.”: Pot O’ Gold (3×04) Gleecap

November 2, 2011

RoryThree weeks on, three weeks off – I think the beginning of Glee‘s season 3 was designed just to drive us gleeks crazy. But finally Glee came back this week, although it was with a bit more of a whisper than a shout. I thought “Pot O’ Gold” was a decent episode, but nothing remarkable, and definitely not what I was hoping for after three weeks of waiting. Nonetheless, there were some great moments from old faves like Burt and new faves like Rory, and I can’t deny how adorably fun both “Last Friday Night” and “Candyman” were. So let’s break the episode down a bit more, shall we?

Favourite Character: Since I was a big fan of Damian McGinty on The Glee Project, it should come as no surprise that I totally loved Rory’s debut this week. His Irish brand of dorky cuteness was perfect, and I particularly loved his interactions with Finn. If Glee is planting the seeds for Rory to be the new male leader of New Directions after Finn graduates, they’re certainly starting it off well. Of course, I also adored Burt Hummel this week and can’t wait to see his campaign heat up against Sue.

This also means that it’s time for my episode preview post! Spoilerphobes, remember to avert your eyes, because below you’ll find the official synopsis, episode stills, full songs and tons of sneak peek videos from this week’s episode, “Pot O’ Gold”. First, here’s the synopsis:

A new foreign exchange student, Rory Flanagan (guest star Damian McGinty, winner of The Glee Project), enrolls at McKinley and crashes with Brittany S. Pierce (Heather Morris) who thinks he’s a leprechaun. Meanwhile, Mercedes (Amber Riley) attempts to recruit new members to join Shelby Corcoran’s (guest star Idina Menzel) newly formed Glee club, and Sue’s (Jane Lynch) congressional campaign heats up.

I’m also super happy that the group is doing “Do They Know It’s Christmas”, my all-time favourite Christmas song! You can have an early listen of the song below:

Jesse St. James returns again: Jonathan Groff will appear in Glee season 3!

October 26, 2011

Jesse St. JamesYou gleeks didn’t really think we’d seen the last of Jesse St. James, did you? E! Online is reporting exclusive casting news that Jonathan Groff, Rachel’s former flame and perennial thorn in New Directions’ collective side, will be making a reappearance later on in Glee‘s third season!

Jesse will be returning as the new coach of Vocal Adrenaline, which sounds like a perfect way to continue fuelling their rivalry with New Directions. The word on the street is that we’ll be seeing Jesse in four episodes, leading up to Nationals, and that he’ll have stories with the character to be played by Alex, one of the runner-ups from The Glee Project. Does this mean that maybe Alex’s character will be a member of Vocal Adrenaline? Intriguing! I think these two will definitely play well off of each other since they both have quite the dramatic flair.

Are you stoked to see Jesse back on Glee again? And are you hoping for another Rachel/Jesse duet? Sound off in the comments!

Time for more Trouty Mouth: Chord Overstreet is returning to Glee

October 18, 2011

Sam EvansThat’s right, Sam fans – Chord Overstreet is currently in final talks to return to Glee later this season! TV Line is reporting that Overstreet will return to the show on a recurring basis, reprising the role of Sam Evans starting with episode 8.

Gleeks will remember that Overstreet decided to leave the show this summer, after the show decided not to pick up his series regular option for season 3. The show’s producers did originally invite him back on a recurring basis, but Overstreet declined the offer, choosing instead to focus on a burgeoning music career.

But apparently that’s all in the past, and Trouty Mouth will be making a comeback. No word yet on how his character will be re-integrated into the show, since his dad apparently got a job out of state, and all of his ex-girlfriends (Mercedes, Santana and Quinn) have since moved on.

But until we get more news on Sam’s return, let’s start theorizing, shall we? Tell me in the comments: Are you excited about Sam’s return? What do you hope to see from his character this season?

Glee casts a love interest for Coach Beiste!

October 13, 2011

Eric BruskotterShe may be the toughest woman in Lima, but Coach Beiste deserves some loving, too! And it seems like her time as finally come, as TV Line is reporting that Glee has cast a love interest for McKinley’s football coach!

Eric Bruskotter, who has previously had recurring roles on 24, Six Feet Under and Providence, will be playing the character of Johnny, a major recurring role. According to TV Line, Johnny is “a football recruiter who comes scouting for talent at McKinley, but finds he can’t take his eyes off the team’s gruff but big-hearted coach.”

So, what do you think about this casting news, gleeks? Are you excited for Beiste to get a man in her life, and to hopefully get her second kiss? Personally, I can’t wait to see how Beiste would act in a relationship! Share your thoughts in the comments!

“It’s not about doing your best anymore. It’s about doing better.”: Asian F (3×03) Gleecap

October 8, 2011

MercedesAlthough it was a pretty great episode, I think that “Asian F” suffered from too much hype. While I enjoyed watching it, I think I preferred last week’s “I Am Unicorn” better, and I wonder how much of that has to do with the fact that “Asian F” was frequently touted as one of the best episodes of Glee ever, even before it was aired. Several entertainment blogs like Entertainment Weekly  and E! Online were comparing it to such season one greats as “Wheels”, which is extremely high praise. Before watching the episode I was expecting way too much out of “Asian F”, and I think that my enjoyment of the episode was negatively effected because of it. Nevertheless, there was definitely a lot to love in this episode, particularly everything to do with Mike Chang. But more on that in a moment…

Favourite Character(s): Now, I’ve been a huge Mike Chang fangirl from even before he spoke his first lines. No, seriously, I just thought he was so talented and engaging to watch, even though he never spoke. So, obviously, I’ve loved watching him gain more and more screen-time and become a fully developed character. Mike’s storyline was fabulous this week, showing such a range of emotion from him that we’ve never really seen before. The struggle to please one’s parents while still achieving one’s own dreams is a battle that most teens are all too familiar with, and Mike showcased this perfectly. The highlight, of course, was his beautiful scene with his mom that definitely had me weepy.

October 3, 2011

BrittanyIt’s time for our weekly episode preview post! As always, spoilerphobes should avert their eyes, because below you’ll find the official synopsis, episode stills, full songs and a few sneak peek videos from this week’s episode, “Asian F”. First, here’s the synopsis:

Mike’s future in New Directions is challenged after his parents ask him to drop out because he received an A- (the Asian F) on an exam.
