Meet the contenders on Oxygen’s upcoming reality show The Glee Project

May 3, 2011

The Glee ProjectRemember about a year ago, when FOX announced an open call audition for three new cast members for the second season of Glee? And then, remember how no new open call chosen cast members appeared on our TV screens? I’m sure some of you have been confused about this, but the confusion ends now: Oxygen, an American cable TV network, will soon be airing an all-new reality show called The Glee Project to choose a new character for season three of Glee!

The show will premiere on June 12 at 9 p.m. EST, and it will feature 12 hopefuls all vying for one 7-episode role on Glee‘s third season. The wannabe gleeks will be judged by some of the top names associated with the show, and to be honest, they’re one of the most intriguing aspects of the show for me! Each week we’ll be seeing the performers being judged by Robert Ulrich (Glee‘s casting director), Zach Woodlee (Glee‘s choreographer), and Nikki Anders (one of Glee‘s music producers). And just who will they be judging? The full list of contenders (with links to their bios) are after the jump.

Alex, age 18, from Lynn, Massachusetts
Bryce, age 22, from Westlake Village, California
Cameron, age 21, from Fort Worth, Texas
Damian, age 18, from Derry City, Northern Ireland
Ellis, age 19, from Grayslake, Illinois
Emily, age 22, from New York City, New York
Hannah, age 19, from Charlotte, North Carolina
Lindsay, age 19, from Modesto, California
Marissa, age 19, from New York City, New York
Matheus, age 20, from Atlanta, Georgia
McKynleigh, age 19, from Paducah, Kentucky
Samuel, age 19, from Los Angeles, California

Unfortunately, not much else is known about the show yet — I’m very interested to find out how it will be structured though! Will there be challenges? Performances? So what do you think, gleeks, will you be tuning into The Glee Project? I’m definitely intrigued by the idea of the show, and I really do want to see the excellent judges in action. I think I’ll give the premiere episode a try and see how it goes from there…and I’m not even a fan of reality shows! But what about you? Let me know your thoughts on the show in the comments!
