Anne Hathaway to star as Kurt’s lesbian aunt on Glee
In addition to winning three Golden Globes, Glee also made a successful score in the guest starring department on Sunday night as creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy announced that Anne Hathaway will be starring in an upcoming episode of Glee…as Kurt’s lesbian aunt! Apparently the actress invented the role for herself, after telling late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon that she would love to land a part on the show. Here’s what Ryan Murphy told People magazine about the deal:
“We just finalized a deal with Anne tonight to come onto the show,” creator Ryan Murphy told People on Sunday at the Golden Globe Awards, where Glee was named best comedy or musical for the second straight year.
“She’s already created [her role],” Murphy said. “She wants to play the lesbian aunt of Chris Colfer. Because everyone needs a lesbian aunt.”
I’ve always been a fan of Anne, from The Princess Diaries, to The Devil Wears Prada, to Alice in Wonderland, so I think she’ll do a great job as a quirky (and potentially inspiring, due to her sexual preference) relative for Kurt. I’ve never seen her sing, however, but I’ve heard that she does have some decent pipes, if they do decide to make her character belt out some tunes.
What do you think, gleeks? Will Anne Hathaway be a good addition to Glee‘s amazing guest star roster? Share your thoughts in the comments!
Yay! I love Anne Hathaway!
eh, I love Anne Hathaway but she doesn’t seem like….a lesbian………i dont wanna sound like sexist lol but she doesnt seem like one….
So excited to see Anne Hathaway on GLEE! She sings in “Ella Enchanted” and does a great job, so I’m sure she could handle her own on GLEE.
