Harry Shum Jr. gets promoted to series regular for season 3
First it was Naya Rivera and Heather Morris, then it was Mike O’Malley, then it was Darren Criss and now, finally, it’s the “Other Asian”‘s time to shine. The L.A. Times reports that Harry Shum Jr., who plays Mike Chang, will become a series regular for Glee‘s third season.
Even though he’s still been a recurring character in season 2, Harry’s definitely gotten much more screen-time since the season premiered in September. From a romantic storyline with Tina, to several great dance numbers including “Make ‘Em Laugh” and “Sing!”, Mike Chang’s definitely become known as more than just the “Other Asian,” and it’s about time.
I’m thrilled that Glee‘s best dancer is getting the recognition he deserves, but what do you think, fellow gleeks? Are you excited at the prospect of more Mike Chang? And what do you think about Mike and Tina together? Do you like the pairing of “Asian” and “Other Asian”, or are you hoping that Tina will get back together with Artie?
I don’t really think he adds that much. Sure he can dance, but he can’t sing.
I think both Mike and Tina look pretty adorable together. Especially the one at “Marry me”. Harry’s really a good dancer.
