Music Monday: Tina singing “Something to Talk About” by Bonnie Raitt

March 15, 2010

Welcome back to Music Monday here at Gleeks United, where I wax poetic about a song I want to see on Glee! My apologies for last week’s lack of a Music Monday post, but let’s make up for it with a super fun song for Tina! This week my fantasy song selection is Tina singing Bonnie Raitt’s 1991 hit about a flirty friendship turning into something more, “Something to Talk About.” Check out the official video for the song below, and read on for why I think Tina would rock it:

From very early on in the first 13 episodes of Glee, I thought that Tina and Artie would be a great couple. Now, don’t get me wrong, I like the main couples on the show, but I really wanted these lesser-seen characters to get some lovin’! I was ecstatic when they finally shared a smooch in “Wheels,” and I was super upset when their romance ended about two seconds later. I’m completely rooting for these two to seriously get back together, and maybe it’ll take some pushing from their glee club friends to help them realize that they’re meant to be together. Maybe their flirty friendship will get the gleeks buzzing about a potential romance, which would push Tina to sing to Artie about how they might as well give them “something to talk about…how about love?”

Don’t be fooled by the country vibe to this song – I still think Tina could totally pull it off and add a bit of a harder edge to it while she’s at it. I can see this song being performed by Tina on stage (with some back-up help from a couple of the girls), mixed in with scenes of her and Artie hanging out together. C’mon, Artie, give Tina another chance!

Do you have a song that you keep imagining being performed on Glee? E-mail me at suzie.gardner@gmail.com and you could do a Music Monday guest post!
