Yes indeed, our biggest guest star dreams are close to coming true! EW’s Michael Ausiello has revealed that Neil Patrick Harris is this close to securing a deal with FOX to appear on an upcoming episode of Glee! According to Ausiello, the word on the street is that NPH might appear in the May sweeps episode to be directed by Neil’s good buddy and former director in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, Joss Whedon. Again, a fantastic match! Here’s Ausiello spilling the beans:

Anyway, Harris wants to do it, and Glee creator Ryan Murphy sure as hell wants him to — he’s creating a role especially for the How I Met Your Mother scene-stealer. And yes, the part includes a little song-’n’-dance. In fact, the gig not only would reunite Harris with Whedon, it’d also reteam him with Zachary Woodlee, who choreographed the musical number in HIMYM’s recent 100th episode.

Ausiello also notes that there could be a slight snag due to the fact that Neil does HIMYM for CBS and Glee is on FOX, but I’m really hoping that CBS has a heart and gives the okay. Neil Patrick Harris on Glee? I just can’t stop squeeing with excitement! Best guest star news ever!
