Idina’s in, Madonna’s out, and some spoiler news for April

December 11, 2009

Hope all you Glee fans are recovering well from the big fall finale! Remember, that just because Glee‘s on hiatus for the next four months, doesn’t mean that Gleeks United is! Stay tuned for all the Glee news, spoilers, videos, and more to help you through the break!

Idina Menzel will play the director of rival show choir Vocal Adrenaline in the back 9 episodes of Glee.

Sources across the web are reporting some big news for April’s Glee comeback: Idina Menzel, best known for her Tony award-winning performance as Elphaba in Wicked, will appear in the second half of the show’s first season, playing the director of Vocal Adrenaline, the New Directions’ biggest competitor at regionals. It had previously been rumoured that Idina might guest star as Rachel’s birth mother (doesn’t she look like an older Lea Michele in the photo to the right?), but apparently the rumour wasn’t quite on target. Read more about Idina’s upcoming appearance on Glee at Zap 2 It.

And while Idina’s in, another singing starlet is out. In a recent interview with PopEater, Mark Salling confirmed that Madonna will not appear as a guest star in the upcoming all-Madonna music episode. Sorry, Madonna fans! Regardless, the episode should still be super fun, and be sure to watch the PopEater video to see what song Mark most wants to sing…

On the more spoiler-y front, E! Online’s Watch with Kristin has a rundown on what lies ahead for the second half of the season, with little tidbits involving Finn’s athletic ambitions, Terri’s future plans, and some song selection hints. Also, for my fellow Canadians who didn’t get to see a spring promo preview after “Sectionals,” watch the American promo below:
